Business Processes and Organizational Silos

Business processes frequently span multiple systems and their organizational silos (Figure 5-1). In the past, most projects making changes to these business processes have tended to focus on individual activities associated with a single application silo. The design focus for these projects was system-centric. Later, another project would tackle another activity, and so on. For the most part, business processes evolved incrementally through a succession of system-focused projects.
