LOOK FOR HIDDEN TREASURE
As a child, a summer treat was to visit Scarborough Mere in the north of England and go on the pirate ship to a small island. We would be invited to dig in the sand and search for “pieces of silver”. It was an exciting adventure I looked forward to. There was a mystery about searching for hidden treasure and wondering what sort of coins I would find. It was, of course, entirely planned and predictable as the “pirates” had buried the pieces of silver in advance. But as a child there was always new excitement about looking for hidden treasure.
