#7: Don’t Wear High, High Heels or Patterned Hose

I like shoes as much as the next gal. But six-and-a-half-inch towering heels, two-and-a-half-inch platforms that infer rock-star status, and lavishly decorated heels with embroidery and light-catching crystals? Not for interviews.

April Lewis worked for a nonprofit organization that had openings for business development and public relations positions. She says candidates came to interviews “in patterned pantyhose and heels so high they could hardly walk.”

As a result, “we concluded that the individuals were not professional, were uneducated, and had no common sense. If you can’t dress for a job interview, how can you represent an organization?” None of them were hired.
