#8: Don’t Say “That’s Not an Issue”

Most job interviews have their share of squirm-provoking questions. Some questions even creep into that what-does-that-have-to-do-with-anything? zone. Other times an interviewer comes out and says or implies something that you know isn’t an issue. But it is to that person or company.

It could be that:

  • You’ve always been in nonprofit and this job is in a for-profit business.
  • You’re accustomed to fast-paced environments managing people and handling more responsibility, so they worry you’ll be bored.

Again, it may not be an issue in your head. But it is for the employer. How do you respond to those concerns? You could squirm your way through it. Respond with indignant wrath. Gracefully dodge. Get defensive or ...
