#6: Don’t Be Humble

I know your mother taught you not to brag. So did mine. But to sit back and hope your experience and resume speak for themselves won’t cut it. And you’re not helping matters by shriveling up in your interview chair when an employer challenges you or asks you tough questions.

If you aren’t totally in love with yourself and your abilities and prepared to act like it, how can you inspire someone else to believe in you?

Even a 2012 study published in the Journal of Applied Social Psychology found that a little narcissism can’t hurt. The word sounds pretty despicable, I know. It’s a trait most people would never want. But the study found that a little self-admiration pays off in the short-term context of a job interview.
