Managing Millennials

We have seen that there is a huge challenge facing managers in engaging with employees. Research by the economist Richard Layard found that people were less happy interacting with their bosses than with any others in their lives. Loneliness was deemed a better option than communicating with the supposed leader.

The issues that this raises are broader than management. Politicians and many others in societies worldwide are trying to figure out the best means of utilizing the often latent power of people. Nowhere is this truer than in the management of the emerging generations entering the workplace. Generation Y, the millennial generation born after 1980, offers unique managerial and organizational challenges.
