INNER CRITIC TO INNER COACH

One of the big things to look at is how to “talk to yourself” when moving on from what could be called “bad outcomes”. An example is if you’ve done something and it hasn’t gone very well, or as well as you had expected.

What we tend to do in these situations is to use “modal operator” words. There are words of necessity and possibility, for example:

“Should” is an interesting one because it is different for different people, and what I mean by this is when some people say they should do something, they do it, yet for others, the word doesn’t have enough commitment and they need to be saying must or will.
