1 This continues to be one of the reasons that countries that are rich in resources, such as minerals and oil, are more autocratic and have poorer populations. The flow of wealth goes directly to the central powers of the country, rather than to the people. The result is that ordinary people have little power to help themselves or effect change.

2 The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank in 2006. It was the first time that an organization had received the prize.
