About the Author

Julie Clow earned her PhD in psychology—experimental analysis of behavior, with an emphasis on organizational behavior management—from Auburn University in 2000, at the age of 25. She started her career as an independent consultant, and subsequently joined a small woman-owned business, Carley Corporation, in Orlando, Florida, to produce custom training solutions for large-scale clients, such as such as the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, Asia-Pacific Economic Community, BellSouth, and SunTrust Bank. She quickly rose to become the Chief Learning Officer at Carley Corporation, where she won and then managed several multimillion-dollar contracts. In 2006, Julie joined Google, where she spent five years focusing on team effectiveness, leadership and management, and organizational culture, primarily for engineers. During her tenure there, she discovered the power of freedom and autonomy to transform organizations into a thriving place to work. She now serves as the Vice President of Learning and Development for an equally inspired investment management company.

In her free time, Julie enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities, including triathlons, road biking, hiking, and surfing. She resides in New York, New York.
