Matching people to the position

So, how can you find a winner for the position you want to fill? Two of the major responsibilities of a great manager are to find the right people to fill the positions needed and to coach those people to a high level of achievement. This is the essence of coaching the right people—to first identify the right people, and then to coach them to achieve their goals.

There are three steps required:

1. Define the position and the skills and abilities needed.

2. Find the person with the right skills and abilities.

3. Coach them to excellence.
