Chapter 5

Getting Experience

w hen it comes to learning how to videotape weddings, there’s no substitute for hands-on experience. The question is, how do I get this experience?

Videographer Associations

Many of the cities across the country have a local videographer association. Most videographer associations meet once a month, and they exchange ideas and techniques on video production. It’s a great place to network with other videographers, and you may even learn more about video production. Get to know the other videographers in your area. Ask them if they need any help. If you’re serious about getting some experience, offer to help them for free. You can learn a lot this way. There are at least three ways to find an association near you.
