Houses and Community Buildings

The buildings in this chapter are bracketed together as houses and community buildings, having a similar type of use and being built to a similar scale. A scale is measured relative to an exact standard size or to some known, if approximate, size, for example in architecture the human size. In the way it is generally used, the ‘scale’ of a building refers both to the actual size of the building and its elements and to its apparent size.
