Queenstown, New Zealand, March 2016

I was 15,000 feet up in the air, my feet dangled out the open airplane door as wind seared my face. For reasons that escape me, I was about to voluntarily somersault into the air at 200 kilometers an hour toward the hard surface of the earth. Below me stood the snow-capped mountains of Queenstown, New Zealand, looming above the Dart River.

I have no recollection of whether I finally agreed to jump; yet I was suddenly shoved forward and plunged into nothingness. Reflexes swiftly took over, and I screamed “Geronimo!” and Suddenly I flew like a bird above New Zealand’s water-dotted terrain.
