GLOSSARY

2D ANIMATION—A flat, digital image that is defined only by height and width, not depth.

3D CG—Digital imagery created with software capable of producing virtual objects having height, width, and depth. 3D CG objects can be fully moved and rotated inside the computer.

ACADEMY APERTURE—The standard camera aperture used in 35-mm film. It is slightly smaller than full aperture to allow an area along the edge of the film for the sound track.

AD (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR)—During preproduction he or she does the script breakdown and schedules the shooting; during production the AD (with the help of one or more 2nd ADs) is in charge of running the set in all its complexities.
