About the Editor

Paul H. Irving is president and a member of the board of the Milken Institute. In addition to executive management, Irving leads initiatives to improve aging lives across America and the world, expand global capital access, and enhance philanthropic impact. Under his leadership, the institute produced the widely acknowledged Best Cities for Successful Aging index. He speaks frequently on aging, philanthropy, and leadership, and his work has been featured by news outlets including PBS NewsHour, Forbes, CNN, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Irving sits on the boards of East West Bancorp, Encore.org, and Operation Hope; the dean’s council of The George Washington University School of Public Health; the board of counselors of the USC Davis School of Gerontology; and the national advisory board on aging of Partners for Livable Communities. Previously, he was an advanced leadership fellow at Harvard University and chairman, CEO, managing partner, and head of the financial services group of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. Irving was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for more than 10 years and named a California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles magazine. He attended New York University, Harvard University, and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where he served as an adjunct professor and received the Board of Governors Award for outstanding contributions to society and the law.
