Three Different Packaging Models

During the design of the Pentium® M processor and the Centrino chipset, three laptop design configurations were considered:

• 1 inch thick designs.

• 0.85 inch thick design.

• < 0.85 inch designs.

In order to achieve the proper operating environment for each of these three models, a processor operate at one of three voltages:

• When operating at the processor's standard voltage, it consumes < 1.0W average power.

• When operating at the processor's low voltage, it consistently consumes < 1.0W.

• When operating at the processor's ultra low voltage, it consumes < 0.5W.
