The Response Phase May Complete a Transaction
In transactions that do not involve a data transfer, the delivery of the No Data response ends the transaction. This would include the following transactions:
The Special transaction broadcasts a processor message encoded on the byte enables, but does not read or write data.
No data is transferred by:
- A Memory Code Read for 0 bytes (unless it hits on a modified line in a processor's cache).
- A Memory Data Read for 0 bytes (unless it hits on a modified line in a processor's cache).
- A Memory Read and Invalidate for 0 bytes (unless it hits on a modified line in a processor's cache).
- An IO Read for 0 bytes.
