Chapter 24. Build your team around your “A” players

With the many balls you’re trying to juggle about vision, processes, budgets, communications, and goal-setting, you may be inclined to put the “people issues” on the back burner for a while.

This is a recipe for trouble.

You only have two types of resources available: time and people. You can’t afford to let one slip at the expense of the other. In fact, while it may sound counterintuitive, the former actually plays a secondary role to talent in the pursuit of new competitive space.

If you believe that people are your most valuable resource (as you should), then having the right person in the right place at the right time—preferably an “A” player—is essential for your success.
