Phony caller ID is a real boon. If you get a call from someone you don’t wish to speak to, you merely let your answering machine take the call. If it is someone you do wish to speak to, the caller ID screen tells you who is calling, so you don’t have to worry about recognizing her voice.

However, caller ID isn’t always accurate.
