Don’t forget the obvious

Creativity is an expansive concept. Occasionally, however, you could find yourself in a very different position, where an obvious solution is staring you in the face.

Look at the list of obvious outcomes below:

  • A retractable roof—enabling the use of a stadium in all weather conditions.
  • Chocolate and vanilla ice cream—regardless of other flavours, these two are ‘must haves’ on a dessert menu.
  • Shopping—what people will do with their spare time when stranded at airports and waiting for a flight departure.

These three outcomes are very different but each is obvious. You should feel comfortable to progress an obvious solution with your colleagues. Start by addressing a few questions.
