Don’t stop at the first idea
Being creative means not stopping at the first idea that comes along. The first idea is really only a starting point. You might return to it later or build variations on it, but don’t be tempted to quit at your first insight. First ideas are critical to begin with, for getting a flow of thoughts, but they tend to have undesirable traits about them. The first idea is likely to be apparent—the thought that everyone else will share. It might have resonance with other people but it won’t be unique. The first idea will probably only represent an incremental change.
