Truth 28. You’re guilty until you prove you’re innocent
If you go to a cocktail party and meet a dark-complexioned woman who is dressed in a sari and speaks with a heavy accent, it is perfectly normal and socially acceptable to ask, "Where are you from?" Or say you go to a dinner party and meet a handsome man. After you subtly shift your eyes to his left hand, you note that he isn’t wearing a wedding band (and you’re single and looking). You might be tempted to ask, "Are you married?" If a woman you meet at church is wearing a charm bracelet with pictures of her children or grandchildren, you could take that as an invitation to ask her about her family.
