Truth 53Seven Attributes to Avoid if You Want People to Follow You

Getting others to follow you when they don't have to follow you is a true test of your leadership abilities. Think back to some of the most venerated leaders in American history: George Washington, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony. People followed them because they had tremendous clarity of purpose, they could articulate that purpose in terms people could understand and rally behind, and they were willing and able to execute to that purpose. They knew that what they stood for could inspire others to follow their cause.

In looking at leadership qualities, I believe seven major barriers can inhibit managers from becoming true leaders.
