3.4. GOOD INTENTIONS

Understandably, few people are willing to identify themselves as helicopter parents—even though they fit the description to a tee. The helicopter moniker has taken on such a negative connotation that most resent the label and prefer to think of themselves as simply concerned and supportive. In fact, although some parents frequently overreact in trying to shield their children, others do try to show more restraint.

It's easy to criticize helicopter parents, but colleges and employers shouldn't be too harsh in judging them. They truly cherish their children, even if a little too much.
