Game Time

The following week, Steph sat in Max Engle’s office, and he spoke to her about his executive personnel requirements for the next year. After talking for some time, he opened up to Steph, much to her amazement. He explained that he intended to put in place a succession plan— including a likely successor to himself—to ensure that the company would stay sure-footed and would remain a reliable place to work for his employees, as well as a source of income for both Max and his wife in their retirement, sometime in the future.

Steph just took notes and listened intently, almost disbelieving that Max would be so frank about both his personal and professional intentions.
