Drill Press

A drill press is a motorized drill attached to a stable worktable that allows you to carefully control the depth, speed, and angle of a round hole. This is a fairly common tool around all sorts of shops whether they are focused on wood or metal, and the machines are generally interchangeable. With a handheld drill, even the most experienced metalworker will have trouble making holes through steel that are uniform in depth and perfectly straight. The drill press allows you to dial in the exact angle you need and to repeat it easily (Figure 7.1).
