Winning with strategy

Strategy is about getting to where you’d like to be, or at least making the most of where you are. And this is part of what it means to win with strategy. You don’t have to win at all costs and you don’t have to play a zero sum game where there is only one winner and a whole bunch of sorry losers.

Winning with strategy can mean competing directly. It can mean using the resources and tools available to get ahead of someone else. For some people it means doing whatever it takes to destroy the competition. But that’s about the ethics of the people using the tools of strategy. You don’t have to be destructive or vindictive. You could use strategy to win by creating value.
