Our species has spent thousands of years telling stories. We invented our own creation myths to help explain who we are, why we’re here, and where we’re going. Fairy tales are allegorical, symbolic, or metaphorical stories we tell our children to help them understand the world they are growing up in. They convey the so-called wisdom that we—as adults—have learned from living life. Wisdom which we—as children—got from our parents and antecedents. Stories, in other words, help us become fully formed human beings.
