Framing corrections
Spatial movement is one of the big tools the Steadicam operator uses to make shots, and it is also our easiest way to make minor framing corrections. We can use our feet and arms to move the camera: booming rather than tilting to maintain proper headroom, extending our arms (and walking or running when necessary) to change the camera's position as the subject begins to slip out of frame.
The specific correction we make depends on the problem, and the ability to pre-visualize the consequences of any given move is invaluable.
