Epilogue: Final Thoughts

One of the trademark possessions of a stage manager is our kit—that tackle box containing all those little odds and ends we rely on. Over the course of a career, a kit will grow, so that by the end it is nearly bursting with all of the unusual tools that have become useful over the years and it now seems difficult to do the job without. In many ways, growing as a stage manager is building a different, less-tangible kind of kit. Each production you work on gives you new skills and experiences, making you that much more prepared for your next project.
