10.2. Communication tools
Communication is another software deployment best practice. IBM leverages several tools to make communication easier and more efficient. They range from tools as common as e-mail to as specialized and configurable as portals.
An important first step is that you move away from the perspective that communication is something used only to report problems and submit orders. The power of communication is felt most when it is easy, convenient, and difficult to avoid. A good example is the fuel gauge in a car. It is certainly critical that you know when your car is running low on gas, but it is also convenient to know when the tank is more than half full so you know you have nothing to worry about.
