9.1. How the coverage model works
The size of a software agreement does not necessarily trigger the application of this type of global coverage model. When the high-level deployment plan is drafted, the cities in which software deployment will occur should be recorded. You and your IBM team should meet to assess the kind of coverage that will be required.
If you decide to assign a global project manager, identify this person as quickly as possible. This global lead needs to identify the countries or regions (see Table 9-1) and cities where deployment will occur, how much, and when. Ideally, you will assign project leaders within each location that has significant deployment activity.
