8.3. Managing the success of your first project

There is a saying, “You only get one chance to make a good first impression.” This certainly applies to deployment. The SDT should work with the EBS to select the first project carefully and manage it so that it deploys on time. This builds confidence and momentum early in the deployment cycle. It also gives the EBS a great deal of credibility with peers and line-of-business stakeholders. Early in the deployment, your executives should exclaim, “Look at this! It’s terrific that we’re seeing value already!” This success should be advertised and celebrated with all present and future stakeholders.
