8.1. Project timing

From the SDT’s perspective, a project is any effort that requires the installation and use of software licenses. Projects can use licenses at the beginning, middle, or end of a predefined deployment life cycle. It is not necessary that every license be in deployment motion immediately or simultaneously.

A project may be as straightforward as installing a collaboration application on computers with a dozen users. It can also be as simple as delivering an upgraded version of an application to all of its current users. Or a project can be as complex as installing custom-written software at locations around the world, where thousands of licenses are required or installed as part of the process.
