No book on workplace social media would be complete without a discussion about blog risks, policies, and compliance management. The blog, after all, is the original social networking platform. The blog has been facilitating interactive two-way communication for business and personal users since the 1999 introduction of Blogger, the first free blog-creation service. Half a decade would pass before the social networking site Facebook (2004) and the microblogging service Twitter (2006) would take the stage and turn social media into a cultural phenomenon.1
