Timelining

What the tool is

A very powerful group technique, much of which is conducted in silence, to ascertain where the group should focus its efforts, what it can realistically hope to achieve and by when, and the likely level of involvement of individuals within the group.

When to use it

  • When a group needs to plan and prioritise its actions.

What you will need

  • Flipchart paper and marker pens.
  • Sticky notes.
  • A room with plenty of space for participants to walk around.
