SCOUTING THE WEDDING VENUE

✓  Always try to scout the venue ahead of time.

✓  Try to check the lighting conditions at the same time of day as wedding.

✓  If you can’t get in, try to at least look in from outside.

✓  If you can’t get to the venue beforehand, try to get digital pictures of the venue from the venue’s website or have the clients email them via smartphone.

✓  Look for the best camera positions and electrical outlets if you will need them.

✓  Check to see if you can get an XLR audio feed from the P.A. system. Even so, have a backup audio system, such as a wireless mic or hardwired mic on a stand, as the reliability of audio systems and technicians can be hit or miss from venue to venue.
