AFTER YOU’VE BEEN APPROVED

Your pitch packet has been reviewed, and your proposal has been approved. Now the work really starts!

Unfortunately, you probably won’t be getting the kind of budget that would enable you to hire an entertainment attorney to craft a contract for you and the client to sign, but I recommend that you spend some time writing down everything you have agreed upon with the act, their manager, or their label, and have each party sign it. This may prove to be extremely useful down the line if disputes arise over who said what. It’s really nice to be able to fall back on a contract and say, “Hey, this is what we agreed upon at the outset, and here’s your signature to prove it!”
