It All Starts with an Outline

Once you know the end goal and general direction you need to take a project, the easiest way to begin any writing endeavor—whether it’s a commercial, corporate video, or music video—is to start with a simple outline that touches on all the points you want to cover. Of all the things that were drilled into me in school, few have been more useful in filmmaking than understanding how to make an outline. The ability to organize your ideas and plans into a hierarchal outline form is a vital skill for writers, producers, and filmmakers and one that you will call on again and again.
