NOTE: In this setup at a hair salon, the goal was to have the activity at hand—hairdressing—be going on unobtrusively in the background. An active background is always a nice touch as long as you take steps to make sure it doesn’t attract too much attention. This setup probably would’ve worked okay with just natural white light in the salon behind her, but I think it would’ve put the background on too much of an even level with the subject-the person we always want to notice first and foremost.
