NOTES: We aren’t just painting our scenes with light; we are also “painting” with the color of our subjects’ clothes, hair color, choice of background, and props. All these things come together to form the full color palette of the frame. You can choose a palette that compliments (i.e., matches) or contrasts (i.e., stands out from) your subject…it doesn’t matter, as long as the end result looks good and visually matches the larger story you want to tell.
