Directing Voice-overs

I recommend wearing headphones and closing your eyes when someone’s giving a voice-over reading so that you can focus on just the words and the delivery. This will also help you catch common issues such as popping p’s, which occur when a person is pronouncing a word that starts with the letter “p” and their breath hits the mic sharply, or slight overmodulation that can occur when an actor gets too loud or the mic is too close or turned up too high. It is not enough to just have an actor come in and read the lines. Carefully listen to the delivery of the words.
