SETTING PROPER AUDIO LEVELS

Camera mistakes we can fix and cover up in a variety of creative and often easy ways. However, audio mistakes are unforgiving; we have to get the audio right the first time, every time. Getting it “right” starts with getting healthy levels—not too soft and definitely not too hot, but juuust right in the audio sweet spot that I like to call the “Super Happy Fun Sound Zone.”

The Digital Audio Sweet Spot On digital quipment (such as your camera or digital recorder) you want your audio levels to peak roughly between −20dB and −12dB on average.
