It is often assumed that the media engineer’s main job is the constant integration and maintenance of disparate media systems to keep a facility working. Sometimes it seems as if people see the media engineer as a crucial element of a working system, running around and patching holes all day long. The media engineer often sees himself or herself in this way as well. The truth is, by implementing good integration technology and process in a facility, media engineers can have very little to do, indeed.
