A Dream Remembered

imageJosh had planned on not going into work the next day. He planned to call in sick. But when he woke up the next morning, he changed his mind. He had the same dream about planting the seed on his desk and then replanting it in a large field where it grew steadily as fruit started to fall off. The dream was starting to make sense. He had planted himself where he was now, and he was growing. He still wasn’t sure what the fruit falling off the tree was all about, but the dream reminded him of what the farmer had said about people giving up during the growth phase. The farmer said too many people gave up just as they were about to enter the final stage of purpose. He looked at Dharma and realized he was about to give up too soon. He was about to fail the tests. His purpose and passion needed to be bigger than his challenges. He couldn’t give up without standing up for what he believed. With a renewed sense of determination, Josh decided to go to work and put his career and his future on the line. If it didn’t work out, he would have to find a new place to replant himself, as George had said. However, if it worked, he knew it would lead to the greatest feeling in the world. Either way, he would grow in the direction of his dreams. He picked up his guitar and played, “Livin’ on a Prayer,” by Bon Jovi.
