Chapter 11

Positive Point of View

imageDharma knew about signs. Sometimes they came right away. Other times they came when you least expected them. They weren’t always clear, and sometimes they made you feel more lost than you were. The important thing was to always look for them and follow them, because they would eventually lead you to the right place.

After Josh asked for a sign, he and Dharma walked across campus to where his car was parked. It was time to leave college and get back on the road. Josh didn’t know where they were going, but he knew they were going somewhere.

They walked down a steep hill to his car. As Josh opened the car door to let Dharma in, he noticed a college student getting out of a car parked parallel to his on the other side of the road. The young man maneuvered himself into a wheelchair that was facing up hill.

As Josh walked toward the college student, he realized that the young man was catching his breath and preparing to head up the hill that he and Dharma had just come down. The college student made about three pushes as Josh approached him. Josh asked where he was going, and the student indicated he was headed to the top of the hill, which was quite steep. Josh then asked the young man if he could push him up the hill, and the young man accepted his offer. When Josh took the handles of the wheelchair, it felt unexpectedly light.
