YOU GOTTA BELIEVE ME Scene from the classic film The Blues Brothers: John Belushi, as Jake Blues, is kneeling in the mud at the feet of his ex-fiancée (Carrie Fisher). She is pointing an M16 rifle at him. After hunting him down, the jilted woman has decided to kill him, and his brother, Elwood, because Jake left her at the altar.

Jake is about to make the sales pitch of his life. Because if he doesn’t convince this woman that she should give him another chance, he loses not an opportunity, but his life.

He clasps his hands together as if praying and fires off his pitch… .

Jake: Oh, please don’t kill us. Please, please don’t kill us. You know I love ya, baby, I wouldn’t leave ya. It wasn’t my fault.
