Set the Clock Ticking

In the phenomenal 24-hour film, The Clock, artist/collagist Christian Marclay visually chronicles ticking clocks in movies (and some from television) by cutting together thousands of film clips, each snippet marking the exact minute or even second that featured a shot of a watch or clock, or a snatch of time-related dialogue. What's even more remarkable about the film is that it plays in real time, so if you happen to be watching the film at 2:05 p.m. in Los Angeles, the clips on screen will correspond to precisely the same time. The film itself is a clock and drives home one of the few absolutes in this book:
