As you've learned in previous chapters, mental energy is your most valuable asset. The key to protecting your mental energy is being pragmatic with how you spend it.

This means avoiding the slow drip, drip, drip of allowing drama and other distractions to endlessly drain your mental energy levels.

Why is drama so alluring?

The reason is because drama makes people feel important. Either they feel important because they created something that attracts attention, or they feel important because they get to save the day by rushing in to fix someone else's problem.
