Do it their way if it matters more to them

I talked back in Rule 51 about trusting your partner to do things their way, and not interfering, nagging and criticizing. Well, I stand by that. However, there are going to be some things which one of you feels much more strongly about than the other. Why not just do it their way if it keeps them happy? After all, it’s their happiness that matters to you, isn’t it?

I have one friend who has a tendency to pack as many dishes as possible into each dishwasher load. And he hates being told he’s doing it ‘wrong’. He’s adamant that there is no such thing as a ‘wrong way’ to load a dishwasher, and anyone trying to tell him differently is just criticizing him unnecessarily and he gets quite touchy ...
